Around 2005 four of my six nephews joined me at my Bayview Idaho home to Fish Lake Pend Oreille.
It was a sunny clear morning in July. We left the dock at about 8 AM and proceeded south towards Bernard Mountain. Many boaters fish near the “Slide” across from my home for “silvers” and Rainbow trout. Five or 10 minutes after leaving my dock a small bird landed on my boat. one of our poles started screaming. We scramble to get the other three lines in while Creighton reeled in a 5 pound rainbow trout. Wow what a gift. We reset the lines and continued trolling east and then north to fish the east side of “Cape Horn”. During the next three or four hours each nephew reeled in a 5 pound plus fish. Josh got a Dolly Varden. Clay caught a Mackinac. Casey caught a Cutthroat. Four- 5 pound or better fish. The small bird was a sign of good things to come.
